Trying — The Story of a Dress
S’essayer (=To try) [transitive verb]:
« To use (something) for the first time, to see if it is suitable. »
To explore, to discover oneself, to venture, to try… She, made of silk, of lace, of pleats, of lines, so symbolic. The dress, the one you sketch in your mind and seek as if it were gold. You feel it, on your skin and in your heart. The first, the second, the third… and you recognize it more than you know it.
This is the story of that “coup de cœur”, that love at first sight — a feeling born when this dress collides with your own story to write its next chapter. It will be the one. She will live that unique day by your side, feel your heartbeat, glide across the floor, embrace your loved ones… and she will endure beyond that moment, immortalized in photographs, treasured with care, waiting to be passed on one day.
The story of a dress, that is not just a dress.

Why this project?
“S’essayer” (“To Try”) is a photoshoot featuring three models and one showroom. It’s the desire to tell another story, not that of the Wedding Day itself, but to take a look behind it, the quiet beauty of preparation. The fitting is perhaps the most memorable, emotional part of the journey.
It’s a joy to plan your wedding, and look how beautifully we try!
The venue
The perfect combo! A place where we found both stunning bridal gowns and two newly redecorated spaces, right in the heart of downtown Caen. […]
The Organisation
S’ESSAYER is a photoshoot balancing between structure and freedom. All the preparation and communication beforehand allowed each vendor to assert their identity, turning it into a truly collective project. On the big day, the shoot may not have been perfectly measured to the millimeter, but perhaps to the centimeter! Every detail mattered, to unfold all the ideas and finish beautifully (with a glass of champagne, of course!). Because the other secret ingredient was the wonderful atmosphere, an undeniably unifying project. […]
The decoration
The boutique features detailed décor with colorful contemporary furniture. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, perfect for the intimate, exclusive spirit we wanted to create. Well… we did move the furniture around a little (the team might say that’s an understatement!). All that was left was to add flowers to this lovely setting for the occasion.

What advice would you give to future brides preparing for their fittings?
1/ Find a beautiful boutique.
2/ Surround yourselft with the right people!
3/ Trust yourself, but not too much !
Let yourself be tempted by what is “not at all what you thought you wanted.” Often, that’s where you’ll find your happiness, who knows?
